A boiler swap usually means the old unit and any redundant tank or cylinder coming out first, then the new boiler going in and connecting to the existing pipework, altering it where the new unit needs it. I test the gas and water connections properly before switching anything on, then run the system through to check pressure, flow and the controls are all working as they should.
Depending on the job this can be done in a day, sometimes longer if there's tank removal or pipework changes involved. I keep the mess to a minimum and won't leave until you've got hot water and heating working, with the warranty paperwork sorted for you.

It needs doing every 12 months to stay legal, and I go through the property properly rather than rushing the paperwork.
Once it's done you get the CP12 certificate the same day, so there's no waiting around if you need it for a tenancy or a mortgage. I can also keep a note of when it's next due so it doesn't get missed.
